Just wondering if this enclosure dimentions are big enough for life. Its a rubbermaid containter thats
30'' wideX12'' wideX12'' deep (but I only fill it up about 6'')

Is this large enough for life? Could I add another turtle?

Just wondering because I kind of want to get another turtle, a spiny softshell infact...

10 gallons of tank per each inch of shell length
single adult RES will require anywhere between a 90 to a 120 gallon tank. Water levels should be as high as possible - as taken from the internet.

when you said " did you really mean ' cos the softshells get like 2ft + ... how is that ment to fit into that tank?

I know nothing of softshells, I havent read up on them, but I thought I'd just ask about them a little bit.

My turtle isnt very large, and still has plenty of room in the tank. I think when he's bigger I'm going to kget one of those hard plastic kiddy pools and set it up with a pond filter/heater.

I could possibly use the tank I have right now as a Grow out for a softshell though.

Also, from what I just read, when I first thought I'd like a spiny softshell, it said females carapace is about 9-10'' with males being 12''

Thats the info I needed. I'm going to get a 150g kiddy pool when my RES gets bigger and set it up for him, and possibly get another turtle.

Because my yard sucks, The kiddy pool is as good as a pond, it's going to be indoors in my brothers old room. And this way I can see the turtles everyday and know they will be safe.

5xlength of the turtle long x 2xlength of the turtle wide. I think size works better than volume when figuring this. Footprint is the key, just like with fish. So basically you should be good with that tank until the turt is ~5" long. Basically 6 months old give or take. I would go 125 but you could probably get away with a 100 (isn't that a 5' tank?).

Re: kiddy pools mine spend most of their time in one. I'd worry about keeping one inside but I suppose it could work. The problem you'll have is as the turtle gets bigger your kiddy pool might not be quite deep enough for comfort for him. Another thing to consider is sex...if your turtle is a male he probably won't get quite as big.
