Rescue black convict

I just saved this convict from it's previous owner. They didn't do anything wrong it was in my sisters tank and it was her first tank so she thought nothing of the fish just hiding all the time. The real issue here tho isn't how it happened but getting this guy back on his fins. I'd really like some input on how well you think he will heal up and what I can do to help him heal as best as possible. He looks really bad but he can swim and he is eating. Also he is in a tank with just him and a 1" high fin pleco so no fear of any more aggression against him.

I would add some API Melafix and Stress Coat and he'll be back to good health in no time

Thank-you I've never had this issue before I seem to be very lucky on fish aggression how well will the fins grow back? also you can't tell in the pics but the fins on his sides are nearly gone I can't recall what they are called.

he swims and its eating and he has a very nice tank i think he will heal fast, good luck man.

Keep the water good and clean. Melafix also works well.

I've seen worse heal better, nice clean water and a dab of salt and it will be good to go.

i agree with everyone keep up with the water changes and add either melafix or some salt and he will heal up great

reminds me of Wiley Coyote. he's not giving up just bcuz of totally shredded fins. LOL.

Yeah, he'll heal up fine if the conditions are maintained. ) Fins grow back quite well, it's only if he's injured in other areas that's a worry.
