Hey guys. My friends and I went into chinatown a couple days ago and as always I made sure we stopped by the fish markets. I was hoping to see some Barramundi. They had a whole bunch of live fish, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. The sleeper gobys especially were cramped in a small container with so little water that the top half of their bodies stuck out. Most of them were half dead. Not to mention the air was freezing. Even though I usually stay out of these things, I ended up buying one. I had to convince the guy working there not to kill it, and he looked even more surprised when I asked him to put water in the bag. When I got home, I quickly set up a tank (with cycled water from my other tank). When I put the sleeper goby in, I was finally able to get a good look at her. Man, she had some pretty bad bruises and who knows how many diseases. I put some salt in and hoped for the best. The next morning she was looking better and swimming around. Now, a couple days later, she is healing nicely and even eating. I have no doubt that she will make a full recovery. She really is a beautiful fish. She is a little over a foot long and in a 75 gallon now by herself.

By the way, when I bought her, I knew she was a Sleeper goby, and I am well aware that they can grow over 2 feet. I plan to take care of her even if it means upgrading tanks in a couple months. Sorry for writing so much, and of course, here are some pictures of her progression.

This is when I first got her home. That red patch some sort of blood wound.
