Well today i rescued a bearded dragon. belonged to the son of someone my mom works with. the son went away to school and the bearded was left behind and the parents were taking care of it. the beardie dosnt look like he is is horrible shape but still needs some TLC. he/she is beleived to be about 5 years old and seems a little small to me. was being fed a steady diet of JUST greens, no calcium or other vitamins, and no UVB!!!!:eek:.

as soon as i walked in i knew it would be coming home with me. so i made a call home and my brother went to work setting up a temp setup for the little guy. right now he is in a 30 gallong tank. basking spot is 110-115. he is rather calm.

as soon as i got him home i gave him a long soak, i did not observe any drinking:irked: and i followed that up with a big bowl of various greens and a super dose of calcium and vitamins. either today or early tomorrow i am going to order a new UVB bulb for him and my large iguana. as well as a few cups of pheonix worms! so far he seems to be doing real well.

here are a few pics. his nails have also been trimmed since these pics were taken.

and here he/she is,

I think it looks fine, old....but fine looks to be about 3-4 yrs old. I wouldnt freak out about the UVB mine dont have it and are all perfectly healthy adults that breed for me constantly. The most important thing here is to make sure it gets the proper diet from here out, it does look rather pudgy so make sure its nice and hot on the basking area to about 120. Then provide cricks 3x per week and plants 2x and thatll get it in better shape.

would pheonix worms be better than cricks? people are always talking about them and im just wondering before i purchase live food.

Good job Mike :thumbsup:Just one thing, dont over due the suplements as it can cause kidney distress. He apears relatively good so give him a varided diet and normal suplements doses and your fine;) So you wanted a herp and didnt want a beardy ?:evil_lol:
