Just recently rescued a small group of discus from a friend getting out of fish-keeping. I put rearranged my tanks and gave the 4 of them my 72(there old home was 30). Now my ph sits naturally around 6.5 and with two 300 watt heaters it was easy to get the temp to 84(there old home was 80). Water params are great in this tank being only 5ppm or less of nitrate(old tank was easily over 80ppm).

But now what? It seems to me (no expert here) that all 4 are stunted, and there colors aren't looking too good. I have no problem keeping them, but is there anything i can do to make life easier on them? Tank-mates include catfish and ottos, the tank is 26" tall so it seems like they'll hardly interact. Tank is planted and has only bogwood for decor.

I have on hand bloodworms and brine shrimp as well as almost every flake or pellt on the market for food.

Any ideas/advice?

I think regardless of how stunted they are, with care their colours should at least become pretty good.
And it sounds like you've got a decent set up there for discus, are you planning on keeping them long term? In a tank that size I'd add another two discus, maybe three or four if the others are small and don't grow. Should make for an attractive tank with a happy shoal of discus.
