So I was at a 4th of July fair type thing in Green Bay. They had that classic get-the-ping-pong-ball-into-a-fishbowl-and-get-a-fish game, and fishes were given out left and right in ziplock bags. Atrocious, I know, since we all know most of them will end up dead because of the uneducated populus.
But, as we were finding a spot to chill and watch the fireworks show, I saw a couple of ziplocks under a nearby bush. Upon inspection, they each had a live goldfish in them! Some ungrateful kids just abandoned them and left them for dead. So I took them, and brought them home. They look great and healthy. I kept them in a separate tank for several hours and then put them into my tank with 3 moonlight gouramis and 1 golden algae eater (each of them is about 2.75-3 inches). No problems at all, they are all peaceful, no fin nipping, no chasing, and the goldfish eat the flakes that sink from the surface as the gouramis eat. In fact, when a goldfish surfaces, all of the gouramis follow suit (they usually surface together)
I won't be keeping them in there though, as I'm trying to set up a 10 gal to put them in and am going to give them to a friend to take care of.
The end. I'll take pictures. Maybe. If anyone would like to see it. They're not monsters, just goldfish.
