So I use to keep rays back a few years ago and have recently wanted to getbackinto it but haven't seriously decided to but I set up a tank a week or so a go with a sand bottom that has a small tiger shovel nose in it and that's about it and I put a sand bottom so if I chose to get a ray I wouldn't have to do a substrate change so I went to one of the LFS yesterday and I was just looking for some fish nothing crazy they usually have a decent stock and I look in this small tank no bigger than a 30 with a gravel bottom and 7 good size Oscars in there and there he was a small motoro super malnourished but I was hoping it was because of the garbage disposal tankmates so I talked to the owner he reduced the price and I brought him home and now he devotees everything in the tank that I feed him including a feeder fish lol frozen bookworms frozen ghost shrimp night crawlers he's quite the piggy

Nice. How about a picture.

Nice setup. Very natural looking.

Is that mud base ?
It's sand but it's play sand so it's the kind little kids put in their sand boxes they can't have silica either because it would cut their little hands like it would cut a ray disk and it's like 3.50 usd for 50lbs so you can't beat the cost the only thing is it takes a little bit to clear the water after you put it in.

Nice, a little skinny but I have seen a lot worse, I think you will enjoy this guy. Good looking for a motoro, what kind of tank did you put him in? Fun stuff.

He's in a 75 right now with a baby tiger shovel nose I broke the news to my fiance that due to the fact he made it through the last 72 hours with transport and is eating so well we are going to have to invest in a nice 180 in the next 6 months or so I wasn't planning on doing rays again this soon but I couldn't let him die there and he seems to be a fighter and honestly I've wanted to get a 180 again just haven't had a reason now I do

Him being a fatties with an earth worm and considering they had him on gravel his disk doesn't look too bad underneath I was shocked

Wishing him all the best, and keep us posted.
