Hi. I recently sold my discus:(:( because we thought we were moving soon but due to economy etc it's gonna be a while. So while the 120 gallon 4x2x2 was still setup, I rescued 2 injured (nothing but a few short rays where the gill fins should be) 5 inch gold sevs (one m one f I think), one green sev I think male and put them in the tank along with my remaining adult koi angel, rummynoses, a small rott sev and some bns.
The tank has a sand substrate and some plants (the sevs selected which to destroy and which could stay) and driftwood.
Never having had sevs before I never realized that they stalked at night and their mouths were huge. in one night the new guys ate the 30 rummynose tetras LOL.. so I then put in 4 female pearl gouramis and they seem to be doing well but am looking to add something else to the mix. I would consider removing one or two of the sevs if need be. The golds are mellow and staying as is the angel.
The tank is filtered by two xp3s so filtration is not an issue. The ph is 6.8 and the temp 82. I do water changes at least once a week. It's a holdover habit from the discus LOL..
So I now have 1 adult angel, 4 sevs, 4 pearl gouramis and 2 bns.
Would any of the following work or are there other suggestions.
Geo Tapajos red heads... how many
Geo Steins (red humps) how many
Yoyo botia loaches.. how many
hyp. temporalis (chocolate cichlid)
a school of cories.. probably sterbai if I can find them..
Bolivian rams (had them before but they might be too small for the mix)
Because of the angel, I don't want to add anything to aggressive.
Thanks for any ideas. Sue:):)

My flagtail is growing fast. With a lot of greens in there diet they will at least grow 1/2 per month and can get pretty large. I've seem them in the 14inch range. They would probably be a little large for a 4ft tank and would eat all of your plants.

Hi there. Thanks for the feedback so far. While the flagtail looks cool I think it's gonna be way too big of a fish for the tank. I am giving the green sev to a friend so there will only be the 3 sevs left..( the gold maybe pair and the juvie rott.) plus the angel and the pearl gouramis and bn. That makes a bit more room.
I am really thinking it might be fun to have some geos if I can find any.. How many could I have??
Or would a school of cories work better??
I'm still up for any suggestions.. Thanks again Sue

Out of the list, given what you already have ... I'd vote a group of bolivian rams. The sevs shouldn't be a problem for them. You could do a smaller group of geo tapajos orangeheads ...

If doing the Geo steiny's, go for a trio or quartet (1m, 2-3f) and if doing a chocolate, just get one.

Thanks again all..
Darth Pike if I go orangeheads how many and what ratio??
Since I've already had the bolivians I think I would like to try something different if I can get them. If geo Steinis how can I tell the m/f ratio when getting young ones as I'm sure that is all that would be available if available at all??? Have you had the sev/geo combo?? How about the sev/chocolate combo??
Rob 22... yes I'm pretty sure the sterbias would work how many would you suggest if I go that route??
Anyone else have loaches with sevs??? Are they ok with the angel and the bns??
Thanks & keep the ideas coming .. Sue:D:D
