My friend (only to say hi and bye too) invited me around her house to see her tank, this guy (i believe a common, please correct me if im wrong) was in her tank along with tinfoil barbs (8"+), and angel fish, a cichlid of some sort (couldnt really see through the water) along with some others.
There was one sponge filter in the tank no light, air bubbles werent working, and i would dare say, it was no more then 30 gallon.

I persuaded her to take out the larger fish, and i insisted on putting the pleco into my 100 gallon. Now, the poor little thing is about 4 years old and as you can see not much bigger then my index finger, maybe a little smaller. It has a VERY thin tail end, which to me looks a little odd. It eats like a pig, but in a month iv not seen any sort of growth, just a podgy belly!

Will it ever grow again? i hope it will live a long healthy life with me, but i have my doubts. Any thoughts or advice would be fantastic.

I don't think his life will be any shorter now that you have taken him out of that tank. Though is growth was stunted due to poor condition. Fish have been known to resume there growth once put in to good conditions.
