I was helping a friend of mine out yesterday with setting up a 210 when we noticed a pretty decent leak. So, I've got a few questions regarding resealing this tank..

First, from what research I've done, it sounds like even for a small leak it's best to tear out all the old silicone and reseal the entire inside. Is this correct?

Second, since the tank has two corner overflow boxes, should those be torn out and resealed as well, or should I just worry about the silicone holding the glass together?

Seal the whole tank, overflows included. Especially if it has overflows IMO. New silicone does not seal to old silicone well so you may have a leak where they meet the overflow boxes and have to reseal again if you don't. Don't take the panels apart, just gut the silicone inside, clean well and apply new silicone. I use alcohal to clean and make sure the tank is dry before I start.

I had a tank with a small leak and was able to put the silicone over the old however the old silicone was almost non existent. So if the silicone already in place seems to be minimal then you might be able to reseal over the already existing silicone. Good Luck

Remove the overflows and all the old silicone from inside the tank.
You must remove all the silicone. New silicone will not soften up and adhear to old silicone.
