I'm going to try and reseal my 90 gallon tank that sprung a leak about halfway down one side. Do I need to redo the whole thing from scratch, just the bad seam, or only the inside? Any help really is appreciated.

Do a search on MFK and you'll find everything needed to perform this feat.

You do not need to break the bond that holds the glass together, just clean off the inside with a single edged razor blade, then clean with alcohol (in a well ventilated area) and have everything ready & recaulk all at one continuous setting.

redo the whole thing from scratch..if a single part leaks, that means that your silicon is doing no good anymore...if you have an extra money replace the front panel with new one...for a clearer view hehehehe....FYI dow corning silicones....it dries so fast

I use the ge type 1 window and door,be sure it doesnt say bioseal or mildew resistant. As the others said, clean glass contact is the key

Should be using type II homey... Type one has the toxic additives in it.

Why stay away from the "Bioseal"???

type two has the chemicals for mildew resistance in it, type one does not, i didnt want to take my chances with type II since 90% of the forums you check will tell you to use GE I dew to cost and effectiveness, there are better silicones out there with better PSI ratings and stretch factors, but they cost considerably more than $4 per tube like the GE I window/door stuff.

i just resealed a 65 gallon and 29 gallon tank with the GE I stuff and they have been up for 1 week now with no issues on the short term

I can't remember what I used... I just looked for the tube of GE pure silicone with the bioseal label and got the other one.
