How easy is it to reseal a glass aquarium? i have come across a used 220 at an affordable price. however the current owner says that the back corner is leaking and needs to be resealed. there are no cracks. so im assuming its just a matter of replacing the silicone?

its actually really easy. I resealed a 135 and it was easier than i thought it would be.
Search on here for resealing glass tanks and you should find more than enough info. Google is good too:)

it is really easy just remove the old crappy silicone and add the new aquarium safe silicone in a bead that looks the same as the other seals.

shouldn't tanke more than an hour to do a 220 gal. Take off the old stuff and slap on some new stuff...that about says it all.

you should also use tape to keep the bead from getting wider than you want it.

Thanks all, i didnt figure it to be to difficult, but i always feel more comfortable after getting some reassurance from the MFK experts. Too bad i have to wait 3 weeks until i can get back to the states to buy the tank.

Heres how it went. resealing only took a couple of hours, old silicone was a pain to take off because apparently silicone was applied on top of the original silicone as an attempt to repair it by the original owner. not to big a deal but went thru several baldes. only had to use 3 and a half tubes of silicone to reseal. cured for 4 days as it was a little humid because of some rain we got that week. filled check for leaks. let it stand and periodically check for leaks over the weekend. no leaks .drained the tank to inspect the bottom panel for leaks, none there either. refilled it to retest it. still no leaks. im so happy i didnt have to reseal again..lol.
