I recently became unemployeed so I posted an ad on craigslist offering to reseal tanks. Biggest tank I have resealed is 150 gallons. I did this for a seafood resturant as they needed all their tanks redone. I resealed 6 of their tanks for them. I am confident with my ability to reseal tanks as I just a few days ago took a 55 gallon that someone was throwing away because it leaked and I resealed it no problem. Looks professionally done. But here is my thing. I don't know what to charge people for this service. What is the going rate for something like this? I had someone respond to the ad asking what I would charge to reseal a 210 gallon tank.
I stated in the ad that there would be a 2 day turn around. Since I am unemployeed I can have a tank resealed the same day it is dropped off and then fill it to test for leaks for 12-24 hours. I want the price to be fair but at the same time so I make out decent on the deal. Price would have to include silicon supplies. Opinions?

Hello; I do not have an opinion on what to charge, but feel you may have problems with a two day turnaround. Silicone appears to cure from outside in and a thick seam can take a while to fully cure. Several members have suggested a longer cure time, up to seven days.
I have sealed a number of tanks over several decades and have had some short cure times to go bad before long, while others have worked. I now give more than two days for cure time.

I would definitely do a minimum turnaround of 3 days to be safe. As far as price, it depends on the tank. maybe do dollar a gallon?

How can you justify a $1 a gallon for resealing a small tank (55 gallons and under), when places like Petco run their $1/gallon sale on new tanks a couple of times a year?

Some thing are cheaper to buy new then fix, kinda like TVs... But if you need a 300 gallon resealed then a dollar a gallon is a hell of a deal!!! You know how hard it is to get someone to take the time to reseal a tank? Here you have a person that is advertising this service, thats rare where I live!!
