Hey guys I'm doing a research paper for my English Class and I need some field research as a source. So if y'all could be so kind and just answer these 8 questions for me.

1.How often do you eat fish?

2.What species of fish do you eat most often?

3. What do you know about the fish you eat?

4. Do you think farmed fish is the answer for over fishing?

5. Do you care how the fish was raised before it got to your plate?

6. Do you think there needs to be stricter regulations on fish farming?

7. Would you buy a more responsibly farmed fish even if it cost more then an irresponsibly farmed fish?

1. 3-4 times a week
2. Salmon
3. Farm raised or wild caught from the atlantic
4. Yes, but its not feasible for all species.
5. Yes, as long as it wasnt raised in swamp water and fed corpses.
6. Yes, China uses tons of anti parasite chemicals that are known carcinogens. Don't want to be eating fish that'll increase my risk of cancer.
7. Yes, same principle as free range chickens

My responses are in red.

1.How often do you eat fish?
At least once a week.

2.What species of fish do you eat most often?
Tilapia.

3. What do you know about the fish you eat?
I know that it's farm-raised or wild-caught in a responsible manner.

4. Do you think farmed fish is the answer for over fishing?
Yes & no. It is the answer for freshwater fishes but not saltwater fishes as those are farmed in the ocean and said farms spread various diseases & parasites to the wild fish while also having high rates of escape.

5. Do you care how the fish was raised before it got to your plate?
Yes.

6. Do you think there needs to be stricter regulations on fish farming?
Yes, especially for saltwater fishes.

7. Would you buy a more responsibly farmed fish even if it cost more then an irresponsibly farmed fish?
Yes.

Hey guys I'm doing a research paper for my English Class and I need some field research as a source. So if y'all could be so kind and just answer these 8 questions for me.

1.How often do you eat fish?

A couple of times a week on average

2.What species of fish do you eat most often?

Pompano, redfish and snapper

3. What do you know about the fish you eat?

How to catch them ;)

4. Do you think farmed fish is the answer for over fishing?

Yes and no. I can go on and on about this subject.

5. Do you care how the fish was raised before it got to your plate?

Most definitely. I will only eat wild caught or farmed in USA fish.

6. Do you think there needs to be stricter regulations on fish farming?

No, less regs. The US is WAY behind the rest of the world when it comes to sustainable fish farming. I do think there needs to be some more emphasis on improving the industry. I am assuming you are asking about regs in the US regarding fish farming

7. Would you buy a more responsibly farmed fish even if it cost more then an irresponsibly farmed fish?

I need to know exactly what "irresponsibly" means. Am I going to pay more for farmed fish raised in some fancy smancy "green" raceway and fed "organic" food and allowed to live better then wild fish? Heck no. I will only pay more for a fish that is reared and more importantly processed in a sanitary matter. Being green or organic or what ever the catch word is these days is total bull to me and I will not pay a cent more for it.

There

Hey guys I'm doing a research paper for my english Class and I need some field research as a source. So if y'all could be so kind and just answer these 8 questions for me.

1.How often do you eat fish?
twice a week on average
2.What species of fish do you eat most often?
salmon, pollock, flounder. most to least
3. What do you know about the fish you eat?
too broad of a question. I know their nutritional data, where they come from (in general), how they live their lives and reproduce, how they may be caught and sometimes how they are caught.
4. Do you think farmed fish is the answer for over fishing?
depends on what answer you are looking for. Overpopulation is the reason for over-fishing. will fish farms reduce overpopulation? no, it will encourage it, making the problem worse in the long run.
5. Do you care how the fish was raised before it got to your plate?
I prefer wild caught. I enjoy the mercury more than I do the pesticides from farm raised. I prefer my pesticides to come from vegetables.
6. Do you think there needs to be stricter regulations on fish farming?
yes, but I feel that way about most things since most people won't self regulate.
7. Would you buy a more responsibly farmed fish even if it cost more then an irresponsibly farmed fish?
I already do.
.

1.How often do you eat fish? like everyday

2.What species of fish do you eat most often? salmon, tuna, marlin, cod, sardines, parrot fish, loads more but cant really remember atm.

3. What do you know about the fish you eat? not much. but i buy wild caught fish. i did know something nasty about red snapper... so i stopped eating it after that

4. Do you think farmed fish is the answer for over fishing? not gonna get into that debate lol

5. Do you care how the fish was raised before it got to your plate? yes.. which is why i buy organic/wild caught. always look at the supermarket's list of protected fish and safe to eat

6. Do you think there needs to be stricter regulations on fish farming? yes i do.

7. Would you buy a more responsibly farmed fish even if it cost more then an irresponsibly farmed fish? hmmmmm i probably already do anyway seeing as i like sushi..

1.How often do you eat fish? once a week

2.What species of fish do you eat most often? sushi mostly, tuna and salmon

3. What do you know about the fish you eat? its tasty... not much else

4. Do you think farmed fish is the answer for over fishing? partially, its not feasible for all species

5. Do you care how the fish was raised before it got to your plate? I should, but unfortunately...

6. Do you think there needs to be stricter regulations on fish farming? I don't really know what the current regs are...

7. Would you buy a more responsibly farmed fish even if it cost more then an irresponsibly farmed fish?[/QUOTE] Absolutely

Neervana Im curious as to what you heard about red snapper and if what you call red snapper is the same fish we call red snapper.

Down here Red Snapper is THE fish to have. While it is fantastic I believe the more common though smaller mangrove snapper are better. The recreational red snapper regs down here are insane. We only have at MOST a forty five day season for them this year yet they are by far the most commonly caught reef fish. Doesnt even make sense. Of course the commercial guys can harvest them year long.

Wanted to say thank you to everyone who answered the questions, your answers were a great help for my paper.
