How well do they recover from serious physical injury? Specifically, pectoral and ventral fins bitten to 1 mm nubs barely protruding from their bodies. Chunks of fin and flesh bitten away from the tops of their bodies. Bruised snouts (open wounds I think) from rooting into gravel. Definite exposure to ich, although visible outbreaks currently.

Current nutritional intake is probably zero. They're being fed flake and blackworms, but the upper strata fish get to the food first.

:(

They're quite resilient and tend to heal very quickly and very well given good conditions. Mine gets spooked easily and tends to rocket around the tank if I bump into it (the tank). He's gotten some pretty serious scrapes this way. He also had a plastic log that he outgrew. I finally removed it when he decided to continue using it and eventually got stuck. Not able to move backward, he scraped a substantial amount of skin (not just scales) off multiple places on his body trying to get out. All this healed up pretty quickly (noticeably better in a couple of days, gone in a week or two). They're tough fish.

Thnx MrGuy.

Still waiting on a response about the missing fins. Toying with the idea of buying [read: rescuing] two that have definitely seen better days...

if you add one tbs of salt for five gal
it will help whith stress and healing and its good for the slime coat

Eh, I'm willing to wait that long. Next time I'm in that store I'll see what they can do for me on price. Best they would do is 10% off for buying both and these fish were trashed.
