Hi guys,

I half way through rebuilding my 4x1.5x1.5 feet tank and have a few Qs. Removed all the silicone already and took out the side and centre glass bracing. My Q is how can I silicone the bracings back? because there are small strips of glass under the bracing.

1. silicone back the whole tank a once, i.e. using wood to hold the bracing in place??? Clamps?? and how to clamp??

2. silicone the small pic of glass while the panel are flat on the floor and let it cure first, than resilicone the rest at once.

Cheers,

Its hard to understand exactly what your asking. If you could post a pic or diagram it would be helpful.
But really all you would do is cut the tank apart, remove all the old silicone, clean the glass with a razor and then some alcohol or acetone, then silicone everything back in reverse.

If your asking. Do you have to put the bracing on while the rest of the silicone is still wet? NO you dont you can just build the tank itself let that cure then install the bracing. That is assuming the bracing is a euro style around the top. If there is internal bracing around the bottom then, yes it will have to go in when the tank is assembled.

Yes, silicon everything back all at one shot. It's a long and boring job, be patient.

Don't use anything to hold the braces, the silicon itself should do that for you.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Here a pic of the top bracing

Thanks for the replies guys, here's a pic of how the small pic of glass under the bracing looks like. It's just 3 cross bracing not euro style ones.

Items I have
- 4 panels
- 3 cross bracing (TOP)
- 6 small pic of glass under the bracing

So how should I rebuild it?
Silicone the small pics of glass on the panels before I rebuild or do it at once? But IF i do it at once won't the bracing move coz of gravity?

yes they will most likely move unless you put something under the braces to hold them in place. You can silicon the support pieces and clamp or tape them in place till they cure then silicone the actual brace into place.
Just be sure after the support is cured that you clean the silicone off the top of it and the side of the aquarium so that you get a good bond to the support and the aquarium wall.

Alright thanks for the help, Will place the panel flat on the floor and silicone the small pieces first than rebuild the rest all at once.

Update you guys when it's done!
