So recently, I bought a 40 gallon tank from a Petco that was on discount. It's only 16" tall but it's 36" long and 18" wide. I feel I could probably do quite a few things with it.

Originally, this was going to replace my 20 gallon mainly small fish tank but I had an idea today at the supermarket.

What if I set this tank up as a saltwater tank, got a live Lobster from the Seafood market and kept it in this 40 gallon tank?

Would this work? Or is the tank far too small for a larger Lobster? It seems like there's plenty of floor space in it and if I were to go through with it it would be the only thing in the tank.

what type of lobster? SW? spinies are too big/delicious and other lobsters need cold water. What market do you go to?

Yes you will need a chiller to keep it alive

I live down in Miami, and the main supermarket down here is a place called Publix. I have no idea what the species is but it's probably the most common one out there.

yeah, publix lobsters need chillers

yes lobsters need chillers need the water in around 10 degrees celcius, problem with that iscondesnsation builds up on the front of the glass, we at www.aquariumsrus.com build double glazed tanks to prevent condensation. we do round 1 a month (which is noit many) but we build 60 tanks a week !
