restocking my 55gal..

I am moving my 55gal in between my living room and kitchen, i have a 8" slant nose gar in it right now http://www.fishtanksandponds.net/live-stock/fishprofiles/ctenolucius-hujeta.htm and i would like 1 or 2 more fish any suggestions? i will be adding a 150gal in a year and a half or so (when i get to finishing my basement so i plan on growing it out) i have kept large GT's, midas pikes .... in the past and have the need for a big cichlid again. I need to get something big enough that my gar won't bother it too much (and I don't want to lose my gar either )

any ideas / type and size i should try?

how about arowanas... always kept my arowana with a gar..... another option is a datnoid ( siamese tiger fish ) predatory but wont bother tankmates

yeah datnoids,pike cichlids,p-bass,also a nice bicher would look sweet for the bottom like a delhezi,ornate or a palmas polli

Cachorros, pike topminnow, flagtail, large silver dollars.

I can get a 6"-7" ornate bichar and was thinking about a Dat as well, (they seem to be a bit of a rarity these days) how quick due ornates grow? All i can think of is a gar who sits at the top and does nothing and a bichar sitting at the bottem doing nothing i figure adding a small dat might stir the pot a bit
