I returned from my lfs with an Angelfish a couple days ago. The fish looked fine, it had good colors, and it was pretty active. A couple hours after acclimated the fish, I noticed it had a cloudy eye. At this point I should have moved it to my QT tank, but it wasn't running. Instead of doing that, I contacted the store, asking if I could return a sick fish. The owner responded saying that he would take it for store credit, so I was happy with the fact that I could purchase another healthier fish. It was too late to return to the lfs, so I checked on the tank once more, and did my nightly errands. I wake up the next morning feed the Beta's, and go to the 200 Gallon to check on the sick fish. To my horror, the Parrot was dead, along with three Tiger Barbs. I treated the tank the moment I saw this, but by the end of the day, all of my barbs died, my Parrot, the smallest Angel, and three of my four Cories. The rest of the fish seem for be doing fine, except for the last Cory. This morning, It was laying on it's side and swimming in circles, and I'm still waiting for it to pass.

Onto the point. I've been wanting some big fish for a while now, but I was afraid for the Tiger Barbs' and Cories' health. I was afraid that they would get picked on or eaten. At this point all of my small fish will be dead by the time it takes to cycle out the ich. I was wondering if there would be any larger fish I could put in my tank now (Bichirs, Chocolates, Flowerhorns, Crayfish, etc... My QT is running now, and I won't add fish to either tank until I get the ich out) My current stock is:

4 - 3" Angels
1 - 5" Bala
1 - 1" Bala
1 - 6" Pleco
1 - 5" Featherfin
1 - 3" Severum
1 - 1" Severum
1 - 4" Half Banded Spiny Eel

If I got a 3" - 4" Crayfish would it eat any of the fish, like the Eel, or a 5" Bichir? I like basically all American Cichlids, and I love Eel-like creatures. Any suggestions are good ones.

I feel like I have no replies because this is too long to read or misunderstood. I'm just looking for suggestions for large cichlids (6"+) that would be fine with the list of fish above.

actually, the first thing you should have done is put it in the quarantine tank, then after a few hours, noticed the cloudy eye. a quarantine tank isn't just for fish that have become sick, it's to prevent new fish from making the current fish sick.
why would anyone want to recommend ways for you to kill off even more of the current fish?

A crayfish will eat anything it can catch. They are stronger than they look and master escape artists. Don't put yourself through the trouble. Yes it will catch your bichir. They aren't great at hunting, but in a confined space they are bound to catch something eventually.

With angelfish small balas and small severum....you wouldn't be able to put in any 6 inch cichlids............

Dang man. I'd be pretty crushed to lose that many fish like that.
