I don't know guys, I think its rare to even find one in half the condition this one is in, I picked it up for 30 dollars and I had to take out the bottom glass, I cut my self a few times in the process and I got a smart idea to put on some gloves, I thought I would be a tough guy and bare hand the glass, my flesh didn't agree though, I sweat'd, but no tears yet. I used a rubber coat by rustoleum to keep water out of the wood, but my neighbor recommended epoxy? I am going for sump filtration because I can not afford a filter lol. It has the original hoods (also rare) I hand build the stand and and painted it a gloss blackIMG_0543.jpg, what do you guys think and any ideas? I am looking for affordable substrate the stuff at the fish store is to expensive.

Nice tank! Sure looks antique.

That is beyond awesome. Great find and great restoration. As for substrate look at pool filter sand. Great substrate at only about $10 for 50 pounds. Or if you want something with a smaller grain size there is multi purpose sand which is about $4 for 50 pounds. With old recommend the pool filter sand though because it will be easier to clean easier overall maintenance in the end

Have you seen any 150 gallons recently I have been looking for the past 5 years and I found one that was a 55 gallon that was rusted. This tank has to be a real find, I am curious if anybody else owns one this size in this condition, if they even exist out there.
