What does that mean? I have to file a permit to keep some of my fishies? How do you keep all the fish you have bro? Aren't most of them prohibited? haha....

Forget about applying for a permit. A hobbyist will never get one. Licensed hatcheries and institutions can apply for permits to perform studies of certain restricted species. This list is from 2005. There haven't been any changes this year (so far).
I no longer keep any of the restricted species on that list. I miss keeping some of them. But, you know what they say..."There are plenty more fish in the sea".

Eh, I'm not about ready to give up my pikes...haha....I don't understand some of it though. Like why they are restricted in some states in the south but not in the others? You would think that Tennesse and Georgia would have the same restricted species as Mississippi...but noooo.

Hey, i feel your pain sorta... i'm moving from north MS into TN and not only are there NO LFS worth anything here. tennessee has a stupid freaking turtle ban on ALL sizes!!! :swear:

The most exotic thing i've seen here is one arowana and black (or asian) upside down catfish...

I don't understand why you're complaining about Memphis lfs. I live 2 hours from Memphis and that's the closest pet shops to me. Here's what's in the Memphis directory:
