Hello all, I have a feeling that you are all going to say I should leave him alone, but feel like I should ask anyway. I have a 13" male jag alone in my 125 gallon tank. Would you think it would be alright for me to add some more life to the tank? Or do you all think it would be Armageddon? I would buy other cichlids ranging from 8" - 12" and several dithers.

I think as long as there are plenty of hiding stops you might have a chance. Has he had any tankmates in the past? Is he socialized? If not you might want to try some dither fish first and see what happens. Fingers Crossed. X. GL

depends on that jag. have you ever tried to house fish with him before? if nothing else, see if he will take a female jag. its worth a shot.

I'm not a super expert or anything but if hes been an only fish for a while he might be very territorial. But I could be wrong, and it depends on his personality. I'd probably start out with some dithers and if they get destroyed then it wont put too bad of a hurting on your wallet.

I would give it a shot. If any fish not intimidating, I think should be fine with hiding places..

It is pretty boring with just one fish..

He was a lone fish when I bought him a month ago. He did have a 2" pink convict for a tank mate if that counts ha. What would you suggest for dithers first? I don't want to buy extremely pricey dithers. I was thinking giant danios. Maybe 8? And if all fails, get him a mate. What are your thoughts on that?

most of the jags ive kept have not been killers. it all depends on what you want. i think you have a quite a few options.
