Retic attack?

Has anyone ever had their Retic attack any of their other fish?
I came out to my tank this morning to find my 6" African Knive's head all chewed up.
My Retic is the only fish in the tank that has a big enough mouth, but I've never seen ANY sort of aggression from him. I can't even imagine how he could have caught him!

It sounds like a typical ray attack...gills/scales scraped off and sometimes missing eyes! They will even do this to much larger fish if they feel the urge (my rays are well fed, so I know it wasn't a hunger issue). On a slightly separate note, I have a large discus that one of my rays pounces on and he just holds him down...doesn't bite or scrape or anything..just plays with him.

My Retics eat many (designated feeders) fish each month 3 - 4 inches long...
