So, as I sit here enjoying MFK reading while watching my 2 retics munch away at their worms, it occurs to me that I have not heard of anyone with breeding retcs...... why is that.

I know that they do not create the awe that the brazilian rays do but does no one have breeding retics?

Calling all retic keepers, hide no more! We may not have the cash flow for the big rays, but gosh darnit we are ray keepers too!!!!!:irked:

IF i only i had a bigger tank i would be breeding these bad boys.. i saw some awesome male and female pups today, one was like 2.5 inch around... and the others a wee bit bigger. heres a pic of my female, in the 90. what size tank do you have???

My male and female are still young and in a 90. How long have you had your retics, what size are they.

Mine are pretty new, restocking after a devastating tank crash where I lost 3 retics and 2 humerosas, they are about 4" disc.

Where in NH are you? I go up to windham all the time to see my dad.... Lived in derry for a bit.

That last picture is crazy.....look at that JLo booty....what did you feed him... rats?

Londonderry so we used to be neighbors in a sense... I feed my girl Crawlers, dillies, and worms. and she likes ghost shrimps. ive seen her eat 2 guppies, thats it. Ive had this ray since may last year, and she went from about 3inch disk to about 6-7ish. only had one stinger shed too...

Where you go for LFS???

I work at Skiptons in Boston so that is pretty much where I go. It took about a year but I finally got them to carry some rays and I get my rays through our distributers. Even better for new rays we always have blackworms in stock:D

well, retics are endemic Amazon rays , not in any population trouble, wild caught babies cost around $8 each at wholesale, but would cost much more than that to breed, hence not many people are bothering with them

That makes a lot of sence I just thought it was interesting that I have never heard of anyone having retics long term/breed.

There is a guy here in Central Michigan that breeds retics. He actually has a breeding trio. The two females are roughly 14" in diameter and they are almost 30" in total length.

He kicks out a couple of litters per year. Cute little pups.
