Ok my friend and I both have Retic's and we see on here all the time about how they have the longest tails of the rays. Well we think we must have stumpy rays (together we have 3, 2- 6" and 1-8") Their tails are 6" at the max. What we would like to know is, do they get chopped or broken off when caught? Or do their tails grow in segments, or do they grow more later as they mature? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

tails get longer as the ray grows.... and antenna rays have the longest tails of all the rays...

Well yes we know their tails get longer as they grow but we have seen some new retic pups that have tails 3x as long as our does. And I was not asking about any other rays but the reticulated but thanks. So if anybody else can maybe help us out on this it would be great.

Many times the tails break off from shipping or even from other "things" in the wild. Its not common to see an adult retic (or any ray for that matter) with a full tail. And no, a damaged tail will not grow back.
