Canada... i wish.
would this be a bad combination?

well ive not tired it but i think the main issue would be making sure the bichir didnt get eaten, ie make sure its big enough with the rays. and to make sure that the bichir was getting its fair share of food as the rays might outcompete it. i think it shoudl be possible but it could be hard work ( but perhaps worth it ).

what size bichir ? what size rays are you planning on ?

Well from my experience retics are not very aggressive eaters and I would be a little more worried about the bichir messing with the ray.

one of my rays has killed a silve aro of good size. had a reasonable oscar pinned against the glass and has eaten many other tank occumants. some other rays have had a go at different fish and ive seen pics of gars pinned etc. i think the ray could potentially do alot more damage to a bichir than a bichir could do to a ray , especially considering the damage rays do to one another when breeding.

as i said ive not done it and all fish have different temprements.

5" retic or teacup ray with 6 bichirs: 1 lapradei, 1 ornate, 1 senegal, 1endlicheri and 2 other endlis in a seperate grow out tank. biggest is the lap and he is 15" im not worried about him.

i keep my bichirs and jardini well fed so i dont think that would be a problem.

Im also considering this combination and have also seen that bichirs can take chunks out of the rays,i think there is a danger both ways really but id also like some more opinions from the ray experts.

Chaitika here on the forums has a large Endlicheri with a female and male motoro with no problems. i dont see why we cant.
