on an icecube.....
I was going to get a pair off aquabid, but have read some bad stuff about them, and i dont whant to end up with two males or something as i already have a pair, I know they seem to mislable a lot of there rays but has anyone bought retics from them or could anyone recomend a better place to get some?

well when you order from them and ask for a male and female all he will say is if he has them you have them. so make sure he has them or say no thanks. i have gotten in 2 from him a couple weeks ago and sbuse received his last week. you will here things both ways from them but truthfully he wont bs you around if you receave a dead one you will get your money back on that, but that dosent mean that they will be real healthy. be ready with prazi pro and jungle ponds anchors away as you might have to treat for fish lice and other parasites. they were on mine but other ppl from a week later have not seen them so that can go either way so just be prepared. also have your food ready like black worms and all of that good stuff. now for another vendor im sure there is better but i dont have any personal experience with them so i cant say much. but after i buy from other ppl i will let you know how it goes. also send a pm to sbrodacz he might be of further help.

I had a healthy Retic for over a year. Got him a couple ladies from TFD to keep him entertained. They were ALL dead within a month.

IF you are going to get them from TFD just be prepared for the worst. I'd have salt, enough heaters to hit 86 degrees, live blackworms, Prazi, Binox, and most of all a QT tank to keep them in for a minimum of a month, perferably 2.

My real beef with TFD wasn't really the rays that contaminated mine and died within a month, as they lasted longer then 80% of the rest of the fish I ordered, nor was it thier innability to read a tapemeasure. My main complaint was mis ID'd Payara. The only reason I ordered from them over other vendors was cheap Tats. I even called them to verify ID. They turned out to be Scombs that were half the advertised size, and in turn caused me to have to set up yet another tank so they weren't eaten.

They aren't a bad place to order from, they ARE cheap. Just NOT for beginners, you must be prepared for the worst, like fish that need work, won't eat, wrong size etc. Like mentioned QT's a must if you have existing stock.
