whats better for a breeding tank, in this case i have 40g b guppy tank and soon a 40g b planted tank (tearing down my 30g planted ) and looking to simplify/bring down cost on my filteration.

I have seen random thread of people worried about fry getting stuck/ sucked into reticulated foam sponge like the hydro pro. nobody seems to respond to those thread with an answer. hydro's own website states that both are safe for fry but I'm not sure which to get.

I have tons of RCS in the planted tank and running aquaclear 30&50 with sponge prefilter to keep the shrimp from getting sucked in. in the guppy breeding colony I currently have to chinese knockoff sponge filter. I want to run one air pump to run 4 sponges total and filter both tanks.

any advice from experienced breeders would be greatly appreciated .

This may be a dumb question, but aren't all sponges intended for aquarium filtration reticulated? If they were not, I'd think they would not be able to absorb water, pass water through them, etc.

Cool setups! Love the double stand. I've got one myself for twin 75s.

I didn't even now they were different types of sponges till a week ago, it just made me second guess myself on what kind of sponge to buy .

I was running out of room and wanted to upgrade my planted tank so stacked tanks made perfect sense. plus the location it is at I can see all my tanks from my couch . I thinks it's gonna look real nice once it's all done. I thought about stacked 75g tanks since I already have them but it was gonna be a pain to plant or maintain a 75g planted tank. 40g b seem better for that.
