ok so i got my retro bichir about 2 months ago and he does not eat at all. he was first in my 60 gallon for a couple of weeks then i moved him over to my 240 gallon when it was done with the cycle about a month ago. the tank mates are 1x 8 inch silver arowana, 1x 8-9 inch lima shovelnose catfish, 1x 8 inch florida gar, 1x 5 inch flagtail, 1x 6 inch senegal, 1x 4 inch albino senegal, and my 8 inch retro. all of the other fish munch out like crazy except for the retro. when he see's the food he just swims away and is not interested. mostly he power swims in the tank and he is getting skinny so im getting worried. if someone could help me out that would be great.
thanks, alot everyone :)

i know mine polypterus palmas polli i have had for 2 weeks and still nothing. GL with yours.

try silversides, but when you do so, other tankmates may grab the food first before your retro.

i feed my fish shrimp and smelt, also i feed the big fish first then i drop pieces for the bichirs, so i make sure everyone gets a piece. last time he went up to a piece of shrimp, smelled it and took off. he wasnt even interested, any suggestions?

try jumbo krill, also sometimes they just dont feel like eating, my senegal just went a months time without eating anything then suddenly he just got hungry again its a bichir thing I guess

if i try to feed jumbo krill my arowana or gar will go for it. the only choices i have is shrimp, smelt and pellets, but he refuses them all. he is pretty really active for a fish who doesnt eat.

sounds exactly like my sen

According to the sticky here poly's have been known to go on hunger strikes for no apparent reason. My 13" ornate seems to be on one atm. It used to eat anything and be one of the first to feed now it takes awhile for it to even inspect the food and I haven't seen it it for a couple weeks now.
