Finally managed to get my hands on a nice group of seven of these little guys thanks to Mark over at Discus Origins in Ocala.

First I would like to thank him and his staff for ensuring the safety and quality of these guys, and for keeping me updated while we waited on Isaac and the convention, both of which caused shipping delays throughout Florida last week.

I have read just about everythIng that I could find online about these little buggers but there really isn't much apart from a few general fish profiles, a couple breeding articles, and various "look what I finally got" forum posts.

So far I've noticed that they are very inquisitive and active following me around the tank, but not too keen on dry foods yet. The largest of the group has caught on to dried mysis shrimp but not much else. Everybody else just spits out thier food, so I'll probably pick up some brine shrimp tomorrow and try frozen foods from there.

I will try to update every couple weeks with observations of behavior, eating progression, conspecific temperament, and anything else I can think of and would like anyone currently or previously keeping these to give me any advice or observations they have noted.

Anyways, here's what you all want to see, PICS!

The little guys in the second pic are juvenile orangehead tapajos.

Filtration is a one of those aquatop canisters from eBay rated at 500gph but it's probably closer to 400gph and has a built-in UV sterilizer. Baskets are filled with eheim ceramic rings and thier round glass filter media with the remaining two baskets filled with filter floss. Will be picking up two powerheads as I've noticed they enjoy scuffling over the highest flow area in the tank and both will be hooked up to the aerator currently running on the tank.

Temperature is at 81 degrees and lighting is from 2 square foot LED panels. Tank is a 56 gallon column and has sand and a few pieces of driftwood. Waiting to see how they grow and progress before I decide what kind of a tank upgrade they will get.

I will post a full tank shot in the next couple days.
