Retrofitting a stand

I have a lead on a new tank but its foot print exceeds my current tanks footprint.

I would be going from a glass 180 gal 72x24x24 to a new 280, which is 72x30x36.

Is it possible to reuse my current stand by retro fitting my current stand, beefing it up and lengthing it to accomodate this new tank?

Should be simple. YOu are basically making a small stand that is the exaxt dimensions of the delta between the new tank and the old tank and then attaching the two.

Well id like it to look half decent so what I might do is have my fish baby sat somewhere else for a while and have this stand taken to my buddies wood shop build the extension and re stain the wood to help blend it in
