Return pump hose tail sizes

Hi all
Quick bit of help if possible please
Is it better to cut the hosetail back and use the biggest internal diameter pipe possible for best flow or does it not really matter?
For example I have a 15000 litre pump and the hose tail allows me to fit any size pipe from 25mm I.D up to around 50mm I.D
Which size pipe is best for flow, small or large diameter?

Definitely cut off to the largest diameter you can, if you have the tube to fit it.

Leaving the hose tail the same increases alot of back preasure and restricts the flow so i would cut it off to what size you need, or the alternative is to buy the right size you need and save that incase something happens.
