The rainy season has begun, and I figured in might be worth a trip back to the river Mamoni, on the edge of the Darian to see how, or if, the rains have altered the species situation.
When I first went there back in mid April, tetras were everywhere, and I netted about a dozen young Ancistrus plecos. Nitrates were undetectable, and pH about 8.2

Yesterday the tetras were still the dominant fish, nitrates were still undetectable, but pH had dropped to about pH 7.8.

Although the tetra shoals still dominated the area, a few fish, not seen the last trip, appeared in the net this time.
One of the most interesting ones to me , this Sturisoma panmense (?), the whip tail cat.

Another, was a fairly nondescript molly (possibly Poecilia gillii), and a couple small Gobiomorus species.

There were also some shrimp caught, and a few trap door snails brought home to add to the sump.
