ive taken a big step back from fishkeeping recently, selling my 280,120,45 and the pond. New house, new baby, new job. Currently im considering selling my clown loaches and doing a small tang tank in the 65g though its been 4 years or more since ive done tangs other than frontosas. Ive made a list of some of my old favorites and some new ones im considering:
the tank is a 65g (36"Lx18"Wx24"T) with overflow. using a single FX5m 300w heater, black sand and a coralife 50/50 light.pH is currently low but i'll raise it once other fish are gone.

These are my must haves:
J. marlieri x6
N. leleupi x1
A. calvis or compressicips x3
L caudopunctatus x6

and these are some im considering:
-'Lamprologus' ocellatus
-Lamprologus Ornatipinnis
-Lamprologus Multifasciatus

if i remember correctly, my last tang tank was a 150 with frontosas, a few calvus, 6-10 julies, 3 leleupis and a ton of shellies. i'd like to do that on a small scale without the frontosas.

id also like some suggestions for some small surface dwellers, even if they are danios or platies.

I don't have much experience with tangs but I've been thinking about setting one up for the longest time. Maybe some Cyprichromis could fill up the top Porton of the tank. I'm looking forward to seeing your setup with the shellies, it sounds like a pretty entertaining tank:)
