Returning to the Fish keeping game :)

Hi there,

My name is James and I'm from Guernsey in the Channel Islands. I have decided, now i have passed my last Firefighting exams, that i will go back into an old hobby of fish keeping. I have had a couple of 5ft fish tanks that have been very successful and it pained me to give them up before i went to training.

Now onto my new plan, I plan to build my own tank for:

1) A good initial challenge.
2) Feeling of accomplishment that i have built the first (hopefully of many) plywood tanks.
3) I would like to keep larger cold water fish.

Are there any fish that people would recommend? Living on an island can make it slightly harder to get hold of the more extravagant types of fish but some good suggestions i can better research would be much appreciated.

If you want a large fish try a Small Or Largemouth Bass Tank Or Maybe a Catfish? They both grow very large or a school of Bluegill or Sunfish

Maybe start with bluegill first then go up to bass maybe can't mix bass will suck bluegill down

native uk species would be cool, try tench or perch. Theres a guy in surrey that supplies most natives species via mail order.
