Hey everyone thanks for a Kick *** Forum first of all. I'm in the process of setting up a 84x24x24 = 210gl tank. I've wanted what i believed to be a monster tank (until I found this place) for the longest time and now that I own a home and don't have to worry about tearing it down I can now start on my slice of the ocean.
When I bought the tank I had my mind made up that it was going to be a reef tank, since then I have come to the conclusion that my heart lies with the more aggressive species. That being said my lighting is overkill (started preparing for a reef before we moved and my mind changed), none the less I have the lighting I will need if ever the time comes for a reef which I seriously doubt. Other equipment includes 2 Ecotech MP40's, a OctoExtreme 300 Skimmer and a reef flo snapper return pump.
I have a UV sterilizer which isn't plumbed into to the plumbing, which I tore apart because I have since decided I should plumb it into the return line. I didn't plumb it originally because I was going to do a reef and a UV would have killed my Cope Pod population but with a predator tank that isn't much of a concern. My Live Rock amount is bare minimum (maybe 100lbs), I've got a sump/fuge under the cabinet and the skimmer is an EXTREMELY tight fit which scares me and is the reason I have not completely filled the tank yet. I don't want to fill it just to find out that I was doomed from the beginning.
If I can figure how to post pictures I will and I would appreciate anyone's advice on my current setup and especially my skimmer situation (that's what is holding me back right now).
Thanks again and thanks for having me,
Damon
