My 180 gallon has two bulkheads on the upper left corner of the aquarium.
  1. Where should the return hose be placed, on the opposite end?
  2. Once the water leaves the sump, does it matter what direction the return water should be pointed into the aquarium?
Thanks

Those are the only holes in the tank? If so, you have 2 options. Make those 2 the drains, and hook the return(s) over the top of the tank. Or, make one a drain and the other a return. If you go for the first one, I would use two returns, one on each end of the tank. Just try to point them so there isn't any dead spots in the tank. If you go for the second option, just point the return away from the drain.
