got a marineland c220 off craigslist. I'm on the fence between whether I should reuse the media that comes with it, which is the legit bioballs/ceramic rings, or buy new generic media from walmart. I would be using anything that I could find cheap, like scrubbies. Its for a ten gallon planted tank, so I need tons of mechanical filtration, not super worried about bio media. The guy said he only used it for 2 months on a saltwater tank, and its been dry for a while now, I'll be getting it around sunday. Any ideas?

Yeah, a good rinse. Maybe a quick boil and soak in vinegar to get rid of saltwater residue. There isn't much that will hitchhike in dry old media.

Ok just making sure I wasn't being too cheap by wanting to reuse it. I mean two months doesn't seem like its worthy of switching out, and its only for a ten gallon so i figure why not

You will never need to dispose of your biomedia unless something horrible happens.
