In the next few weeks I'm going to re-do my 75 gallon. :D
I will be replacing my UGF, taking out my gravel and putting in aragonite sand with crushed coral, and adding lots of rock work.
Any suggestions on new filtration? (see my tank set up). I will be adding more fish.
I really want this to be awesome when I'm done.
Thanks in advance.

Hello?
Okay, let me ask this:
Power filters- whats better?-- Hagen Aquaclear or Marineland Emperor?

They each have their +'s and -'s
I would get one of each :grinyes:

I would go with the aquaclear. I have both and like them better.

Well, if your UGF is your only biolical filtration at the moment, I would get an AC110 and let it run for a few weeks before I did anything, just to make sure I would still have sufficient biological filtration

get an AC 110. everyone reccommends the aquaclears.

I've owned 3 of both and ended up returning 3 aquaclears after a while (pain in the rear to clean.....water everywhere & inconvenient)...............emperor 400's = easy & convenient & crystal clear water.............:D :D ...............& bio wheel!!!!! GO EMPEROR!!

never had water anywhere when I cleaned an AC.....I let the sponge drip out over the filter for a few minutes before I clean it. EXCELLENT bio and mechanical filtration IMO, and super easy to clean:grinyes:

:) I've flipped flopped from one to the other over the last couple years, and yes each filter have + / - . IMO I believe that for a bigger tank...say 125g, the aquaclears (times 3) are better. the neck where the filter rests on the tank is wider on the a/c and no matter how you adjust the "adjusting under filter disk thing" you cannot get a a/c 500/110 to sit parallel on a 30g tank , or a tank w/ comparable thickness up top (I like to over filter, thats why i didn't get an a/c 70 for my 30g. the Emperors sit flush on my 30g, as well as my 125 g when I had power filters that is...............I now have 2 rena xp 3's and a eheim 2028 pro2 on my 125 g african tank.............I used to hate emps , cuz I had a used one w/ and old messed up impeller (loud), changed it and that promped me to buy a couple more. I still like the a/c's for your ability to stack media (options), and great biological..............I just think Emps are a little easier to maintain (you dont have to take out *all* media when perorming maitenance, hence the water falling to floor if you dont drip dry all media).........just my opinion......I respect yours rallysman and agree to a point..............;) peace..........
