reverse flow trickle filter/ scum remover

I have an idea to bounce.
I am setting up a 75 gallon tank. That needs an internal filter, self contained.
Use a 1000 gph submersible pump.
A 8 " pipe full of bio media.
A LARGE air pump too saturate the water/bio ball mix.
Return thru a filter sock
Gravity fed to the far side of tank.
Just an idea.

So far it seems to possibly work. I stuffed it full of shower scrubby things. To simulate media.
The 600 gpm has plenty of flow.
The pump need to be damped as it vibrates noisily..

How many gallons of media and what type for a 75 gallon.?
