Is anyone on here using a Reverse OS system in line with your auto drip systems. Good or Bad for rays, since I read somewhere that they take out need minerals for fresh water saquariums..

I use a 150gpd on a constant feed to my sump which is then pumped into the main tank. There is also an overflow on my sump that goes outside and this water is stored to water the flower beds and feed a small pond. I have never used tap water on this system and its been running for 3.5 years with no problems at all.
I have to use a large amount of coral gravel in my sump to keep the Ph stable but thats about it. My water is Ph= 6.5, Gh= 3, Kh= 4,Nh4= 0, No2= 0, No3= 20ppm water is tested once a week with liquid test kits and as yet has not changed much over 3.5 years.

People need to know what they are doing with ro, if you are not buffering the water heavily or remineralising. In my opinion the hma filters from devotedly discus take out all the bad stuff and leave the good stuff. You need to Inc the chloramine filter.

If you look at motoro magic he is making use of the waste water as ro can waste a lot.

So very true JT ro waste is quite large more than 50% that is why i try to save and use what waste i can.
When i first set up my system i had massive ammonia readings but only had a few fish in there, i could not figure it out so i starved them for a week and there was still no change to the ammonia readings, even bought a new test kit in case mine was faulty. I spoke to a few people and someone mentioned Kh and Gh i never even gave these a thought. I was told to put coral gravel in my sump so i filled a pond basket with it and left it a few days before testing my ammonia and it started to fall. I added another 2 baskets of coral gravel and within a week everything was tip top and has been ever since.
I will say though that ro water is raw and so does break down coral very quickly and needs to be topped up from time to time.
I agree about hma but ro is what i am used to and so are my rays.
