In The Little Town Of Bedrock!
So ive been planning on turning my 55 gallon into a African tank for some time now and ive added some fore fish to my list, could you guys tell me if this is ok or would i be pushing my bioload limits with this many fish?

1 x Delhezi Bichir
2-4 x African Butterfly Fish
5-6 x Congo Tetra's
1 x African Brown Knife Fish
2 x Leopard Bush Fish

Theres the list, hows it look? I personally love it and i guess that's all that matters but should i be worried about the tetra's ? ive read that the Leopard Bush fish and the Delhezi will eat smaller fish, will i lose my Tetra's or do you think they'll be quick enough to get away from then 2? Also are Bush fish schooling type fish? Like if i put in 2 will they stay around eachother for the most part or will they go out and about on there own? And yes i plan on feeding live insects, because the African Butterfly and the Leopard Bush dont usually take pellets/flakes from what ive read.

Oh yes one more thing:D How big of a water change do you guys and gals think ill need to do weekly?

Sorry for all the questions!
Thanks,
AQ

were are you getting del. in ottawa tell them to order 2 i want one too

Im not 100% percent sure i can get the Delhezi im pretty sure i can order it in but i havent gotten the A-Okay. PM me and ill tell you where i plan on making my order:headbang2

i think the del will make a meal out of those tetras whenever they can get the chance. ppl might say u are pushing your bio load limits, but if u do big water changes weekly, i think it could be done. but not forever.. that del will outgrow that tank eventually

So then i guess ill be getting a Senegal then :) i was told that my first list
( 1x delhezi/senegel bichir, 2x african butterfly fish, 6x congo tetras, 1x african brown knife fish ) would need a 25% water change weekly i cant see 1-2 meduim sized fish pushing to 50+% water change weekly:confused: but i guess i could be wrong, but maybe you didnt mean that high of a WC weekly if so then please tell.

I doubt this will change the bioload to much but i will glady lower my list to,

1x Sengel Bichir
2x African Butteryfly
5x Congo Tetras
1x African Butterfly
1-2x Leopard Bush

I hope i can atleast manage the list above without to large WC weekly :(

Thanks,
AQ

the del won't outgrow your tank. you can have a delhezi. it'd appreciate a wider tank, but it'll be fine in a 55.

Ok then a Delhezi if i can order one in? also the WC question how high do you think it will be with my first list in my first post compared to my second list with the reduced amount of fish?

Thanks,
AQ

ya the congos MAY become lunch, but i think you could manage to keep them all if they are of decent size and you make sure the rest of the fish are well fed.
