FYI- That Rhaph has been WITH those very rays almost every day since they first arrived at my place well over 2 years ago......

Could you see why I lost Armatus now? Since this guy has been absolutly fine since day 1........

For a rough idea on size..... The smallest ray in that pond is easily a foot across..... Guessing the Rhaph to be around 15 inches.

does the rhaph ever go on eating strikes or does he eat every day?

I would like to view the tape but for some reason I have not been able to view some links lately on my ancient computer. There is a store near me that has some four and six inchers for sale as well some three inch scombs.

I'd grab em up.... Truly great, very underated fish.... I don't think you could beat a Rhaph/Tat combo...... Best part is you could probobly get a few other fish in there as well..... My Rhaphs have always been VERY peacefull and have never caused any harm to any other tankmates.

I am thinking about one or two of them and some tats when I can find any.I did have a smaller vulp a while ago but I cantremember what ate it.What do you feed your raphs?

Been eating everyday lately, but it's rare..... I have never had any kind of Characin that eats regularly everyday..... Rhaphs, Tats, Scombs, Armatus, Odoes, Chelceus, and Dorado. All will eat like they've been starved for weeks one day, then won't eat again for a few days, they'll just watch food drop right next to them. Every once in a while they'll eat everyday for long periods, sometimes months..... Then all of a sudden quit for days even a week.

Started them on krill, then went to shrimp and eventually smelt.

Rhaph prefers shrimp over smelt.

^I'll keep that in mind.My Armatus and the other two species when I had them would ignore food sometimes as well, then a day or so later they would hunt down everything offered.
