Got a quick question for you guys. i know alot of people dont keep rhino iguanas on the site but figured i would ask anyways.

Well this weekend i will be moving the rhino iguana down to my place and the monitors will be going back up to stay at my parents house. GF doesnt really care to much for the monitors diet, i think she will be able to handle greens and veggies better than mice and roaches haha.

Here is my question. i have been making alot of progress with the rhino lately. he is to the point where he will now take food from my hands if i am working in his cage so i am fairly certain i will be able to get him to the point of free roaming at some point in the future. here is my question. what would be a suitable sized enclosure to put him in when he is full grown for when i am at work and for sleeping at night? justw ant to figure this stuff out now before i get him down to my apartment.

I would recommend at least an 8'x8'x5' foot enclosure, these guys get pretty big. I suppose you could do a smaller one if he is soon to be free roaming though.

Free roaming? You'll have plenty of smelly poo to clean up!

Anyways, from my experience, rhino iguanas aren't very active aside from foraging for food so you'll need a fairly big enclosure but nothing like one that a big monitor lizard would require. Since you also plan on giving the animal free reign of the house, then I suppose a generous 8x8x5 as mentioned above would be more than sufficient.

they can be potty trained. mine will only go in his enclosure and he is out for the majority of the day. I have also heard of a litter box trained iggy.

Litter or paper training can be done I had my green igg paper trained. He still is, I think he has had one accident in thw house since he started free roaming.

Thanks for the help guys

awesome i say go for it and the enclosure mentioned should be geat pics please

As much space as you can give them I guess. Aren't massively active as adults but still...

I think you could maybe get away with 8x6 but yea that sounds about right. I had a green ig that was box trained, basically he trained me, he went in a spot so I put the pan there.
