My LFS has a 26" Rhino Iguano for sale which I am very interested in. Has anyone any experience with thes iguanas please?

yes, i had a green iguana for about 5 years, until i had to gibe him away because he wouldent stop growing, and i did not have the space for him, mine was a total of around 41/2 to 5 ft. some people say that they are high maintenace and i could say the same but as long as you really love your lizard that you want then it would not seem like a lot, its just like a dog, but i dont know alot about rhino iguanas but mine drank a whole lot and would eat about a head of lettuce and some pepers from time to time, but then again i dont know alot about rhinos

You can't treat Rhinos like Green Iguanas. Rhinos are a land iguana species that prefer dry habitats with lots of rocks to climb on. They also consume more live prey and carrion then Iguana iguana. I believe the mod varanio has a species of land iguana. He might be able to help you or point you in the right direction.

no experience here, but these are the ones you always see mixed in with the large torts like aldabras. Think they are quite expensive and not often bred in captivity over here. Think they are classified as threatened-vulnerable and CITES protected.

Vicious, Davo and BWB thank you for the info. They are good to keep with Aldabran, Leopards or Sulcatas and are very much land based as adults.

They can get very aggressive during the breeding season especially the males. The males look awesome and are big lads indeed.

They are CITES protected and microchipped similar to the Asian Arrowanas

That would be so awesome, i don't suppose that Greens could be kept with leopards?

Bruce,
Leopards are from the same habitat as Sulcatas which is dry and arid. They eat predominantly grasses either dry or live and will actively aestivate during the hottest parts of the days. If you feed these species too much fruit or protein you can damage their kidneys easily. You should really keep Leopards seperate from other species.

The normal green iguanas are from a more humid environment in the tropical rain forests. I lived in Belize for 3 years and kept loads of them and Morelets crocodiles,

If your viv is big and hot enough then you would get away with Uromastyx or Bearded Dragons mate
