I recently bought a rhino pleco from my LFS. (recently meaning 3 weeks ago) He is still a bit on the skiddish side. I want him to be as comfortable as possible is there anything i can do for him to help him settle down?

assuming from your sig hes in the 38 g and not the african tank i wold provide him with a hide spot a couple peices of drift wood stacked works nicely and dim the lights a little something as easy as tin foil with holes poked in it will work fine pleco are nocturnal and prefer a dark tank ..

Plecos are nocturnal yes, but do need a source of light. Most plecos prefer a partial light... so a subdued light is good, either filtered, or low wattage. Wood will make him more comfortable, as well as not looking in on him every ten minutes. Use moonlights or red/blue/green (your choice, I find blue works the best) filters on your lights. Most of these colors cannot be seen well by your fish, and they will think it is night. Keep his diet varied, and full. I use cucumbers, sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots, algae wafers, blood worms, brine shrimp, beefheart, and occasionally apples, or mangoes, but those are just treats. Provide lots of wood as these guys will eat through a decent amount each year. Give him his own little hiding spot also. Half a pot, foil as mentioned above, the wood itself, ornamental caves, 3D backrounds with caves all make good options.

alright i am going to get some slate this afternoon to glue to my wood because it wont sink then im going to put the wood in the tank and we will see what happens thats for the help.

Make sure you use an aquarium safe glue. Aquarium silicone is good for this.

or just tie it. eventually you can untie it and the wood will stay down and you'll have a piece of slate to aquascape with
