I have a five inch rhom that is still somewhat skitish and currently im feeding him prawns and fillet and i was wondering if its possible to get it to eat pellets how patient should i be befor i feed him his old food again and is there any brand or form of pellets that rhoms like.

Thanks

That 5 inch rohm can go MONTHS With out eating :)
I fed my piranha Hikari Cichlid Gold Its for carnivorous fish .
That small it will proly take to well/fast . (yes be patient)

I agree with Master K

Get some floating pellets, or baby shrimp (freeze dried) and put them into a current (from your filter, or powerhead) and they'll move around like they're alive. That will encourage him to hunt the prepared food and eat.

That's how we did it with my fiance's 1 in RBP.

I personally don't like to feed my piranha pallets. I always feed my piranha variety different food such as

silver side
smelt
worm
white meat fillets
raw shrimp
clams
etc...just stay away from live food.

I agree, Sticky, that food is much better than pellets, but sometimes it's not complete nutritionally. Besides, mine refuse to touch filet chunks anymore....I'm thinking about trying catfish again to get them back on them.

Thats funny because my p seemed like it had no more interest in filets any more
Sticky what is the reason for only white meat filets is it bad if it eats red meat like salmon?

Make your mind up who you agree with.
My 5-6" Rhom gets mussel and prawn.

Salmon or any other fish are very oily fish....I generally feed a white meat fillets from talapia. It's not oily fish and it's very good for them.

Also catfish are best. piranha love catfish.

no matter what kind of diet you're giving to your piranha it will and can take time for them to accept it. Piranha can go with out food for a while so don't worry if the piranha doesn't eat.

quick question would i be able to keep it in a 72 gallon for life or eventually would it would need a bigger tank, if so at what size would i have to move him out?

He will be in there for a very very long time. Rhomb are a slow grown. Once he hit 9-11" I would move him to 125gallon for life.
