well im getting rid of my rhom in a few days so i grabbed a quik vid tonight during his final meal in my care. sorry vid quality is bad and the tank looks horrible but still kinda rare to see him eat. he wont touch food if anyone else is there n he stared at me holding my phone trying to get a vid for 10min before i stepped back n to the side and he went right to it.

Why are you getting rid of him? Did you raise him from a juvi?

no i bought him as 10.5-11" wc rhom but he just isnt what i expected. oddly after a year he is finally coming out of his shell a bit but still very cautious. hopefully we will still see updates on here after he is rehomed, i think he is close to becoming a real monster, but just not the glass banging monster yet.

 Personality like most Piranhas, you wait forever for them to turn into some kind of tank banging monster and 99% of the time you are let down! Took me a while to figure it out and a few dollars later but I gave up after having owned several different kinds of piranha and they all turned out to be pretty much "parkers".

I think it has a lot to do with having been raised in an unlimited environment and then slammed into a puny tank.

exactly my guess. id assume he is between 5-7 years terrorizing some river in brazil, and in a matter of weeks he was caught mailed thousands of miles and put into a glass box. i believe he will eventually become less skittiah, but a lot had to do with making him comfortable and i just didnt have the right tank to provide good hiding space. i think if he was in a planted tank with atleast 2' wide he could get away when he wanted to. he did start to get better with me, but the second someone else was there he would just circle and stare
