red eyes, body shape, caudal fin, but check out those spots on top. Wassup with that. How big is this guy? I thought when they got that big rhoms lost their pigments in lieu of the diamond or black scales. Prominent humeral spot. If I had to guess I would guess it was from brazil somewhere, only because more of the amazon is contained in Brazil than any other single state in SA. He's got some color on the gill plate too. If it was yellow I would say Xingu. Orange....maybe guyana type? I don't know. I still haven't gotten much good info on this topic.
The one thing I've learned about geo-morphology is that there's no easy way to ID em. That's the one thing everybody from frank, to the guys at SA have said, "Unless you pulled it out of the river yourself...."

they are about 9-10"
jp80911;3171806; said:well, according to Pedro, gold diamond's scale reflects in gold color, blue diamond's scale reflects in blue color and black diamond's scales reflects in...well...silver color.
they are all diamonds but just some reflection color are more attractive to some people (usually the blue)
Diogenes;3171835; said:yeah i'm not a rhom guy, but I gotta admit, all the blues I have seen, even the juvie-sub adult age, have absolutely stunning coloration. Most P's lose their spots as they age, but I've seen pics of sub adult blues like 6-7" with spots, red fins, red eyes... They're really remarkable. To a layperson your blue looks like a completely different species from a high back peruvian rhom. If I ever get one I'll probably be looking for a blue, although secretly I'd love to have a 14+ incher Peru high back.
