how long (or until what size) could a rhom live in a 30gallon tank? of course given the proper filtration and due water changes
thanks

Till its about 4-5 inches max

Agreed 5" max, of course it will take almost 2 years for that too happen, I have a 2/3" rhom in a 10gal growout for now, have a 40b waiting for him at 2". Easier to grow out in a smaller tank to keep water params a ok! Pics?

It's illegal on this site to say the word rhom without a pic!

I disagree. My 2.5year old Rhom is 8.5". Raised from 1.5" in a 2' 15gal long with ac70 & ac30. Twice a week 5gal change in water, fed once a day 1st year, every 2-3days since. Minnows, krill, silversides, nightcrawlers in rotation. & he's been very aggressive after 1st month or so. Rhoms can & do grow faster than many think.

He's been in 40b for a few months since he reached 8"

8+ inch rhom in a 40? That's pushing it imo.

And ur fish didn't get 8.5" in 2.5 years, unless u have a record setting serrasalmus, are u saying u bought him at 1.5 and in 2.5 years it grew 7" or it grew 8.5 in over 2 years? but even that's pushing it compared to all the rhom growthreads on here. Pic?

I've had him 2.5 years bought at 1.5" at 8" I moved him to 40b, its pretty average growth for Rhom. It's nothing special but it was done in a small tank where he was very aggressive which made him eat like a champ which most dont cause they're scared in a tank that's too big for a little, skittish fish to feel comfortable in.

Good varied diet,(which includes live fish once a week)good current, filtration,& lots of fresh water & your fish will grow.

Yea that sounds more like it, I didn't know if u meant 0"-8.5 in 2.5 years, that be some fast growth. So he will hit 9" by the end of the third year! Congrats I can't wait for that with my serrasalmus, and I didn't realize it was a 40b
